The Rand Nature Centre comprises 100 acres of natural beauty in the heart of downtown Freeport, Grand Bahama. A 2,000-foot trail winds through natural coppice and Pine forest. A birder's paradise, the center houses a variety of bird species that can be seen year-round. Peak bird watching season is from October to May when winter residents and migratory birds arrive.
The Centre was established in 1968 by Mrs. Dorothy Rand, in memory of her husband James Rand, the American inventor and philanthropist. She created the Centre for the purpose of preserving an area of natural beauty in the heart of Freeport, where visitors could enjoy Bahamian wildlife and vegetation and learn about the environment. The Trust assumed responsibility for the Centre in 1991 and has continued Mrs. Rand's vision
Recently renovated and expanded, the spacious Rand Nature Centre houses the administrative office of the Bahamas National Trust Grand Bahama Regional Branch and the new Gloria Banks Art Gallery. A small staff and scores of dedicated volunteers coordinate school programs, tours and special events.

Visitor Information
- A monthly bird walk is held on the first Saturday of each month.
