Parks Partnership Project
With generous support from the Bacardi Family Foundation, the Bahamas National Trust
and The Nature Conservancy have forged a Parks Partnership Project. The project
provides the opportunity to build increased management and stewardship capacity in
the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park. The Partnership will develop management planning
tools which will be designed for replication in other national parks throughout The
Bahamas.

Abaco Fire Project
A pilot project which will be used to develop ecological fire management capacity for
Bahamian pine forests. Enhanced capacity is critical for the long-term maintenance of
our forests and the economic and biological values that they support. Partners include
Departments of Lands and Surveys and Agriculture, the Marsh Harbor Volunteer Fire
Department, Abaco Friends of the Environment, The Nature Conservancy, the U.S.
Forest Service, and the U.S. National Park Service.

Birdlife International's Important Bird Area (IBA) Program
The Bahamas National Trust is participating in Birdlife International's Important Bird
Area (IBA) Program for the Insular Caribbean. The IBA Program aims to ensure the long-
term conservation of a global network of critically important bird and biodiversity sites
that in combination encompass all major ecosystems and protect the world's avian
species.

Kirtland's Warbler Training and Research Project
The Kirtland's Warbler Training and Research Project started on Andros in 2001 and
moved to Eleuthera in October 2002 following the discovery of number of Kirtlands
warblers there by the Ornithology Group of the BNT. This unique project is primarily
funded by a grant from the USDA Forest Service International Program to The Nature
Conservancy Migratory Bird Program in collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service's
International Institute of Tropical Forestry.

People and Parrots
The People and Parrots Project is a partnership with the University of Florida which is
being funded up the Disney Foundation. The project is aimed at increasing awareness
about Abaco National Park and heightened appreciation for the park's values. The
project is very much designed to live up to its title. There are tremendous benefits to be
gained by the people of Abaco through the appropriate utilization of the park's
resources, specifically the Bahama parrot and other birdlife found there.

The Society for Conservation and Study of Caribbean Birds
The Bahamas National Trust is actively involved in the work of the Society for the
Conservation and Study of Caribbean Birds both in the Bahamas and throughout the
Caribbean. The BNT has been particularly supportive of the Work of the SCSCB West
Indian Whistling Duck Working Group and the White-crowned pigeon Working Group.
